On Restarting
If you are seeing this, it means you probably saw my last email and decided not to unsubscribe. Thank You!!! 👸🏾🤴🏾
If like me, you felt unproductive and were just eating banana bread in 2020, I feel like you might have the urge to either start something new or restart something you have already done before.
My latest blog post is about all the things I restarted from Jan to June 2021. My next step is to restart this newsletter which I am super excited and a little bit anxious about.
I am starting this newsletter for a couple of reasons,
I have taken a long break from my blog and as expected, I lost my blog audience 😢.
Content has moved to the email now. A lot of people (including me) don’t visit blogs as much we used to.
I am constantly learning so many new things and I think it is important to share. I explain this towards the end of this email.
Starting this newsletter was a little bit difficult as I struggled with some doubt, delay and indecision. However, In the spirit of restarting, I want to share some learnings that I am currently applying to everything I am restarting this season. They are:
Have a strong purpose. How to do this will differ in every one. You can get directions from God, talk to mentors and coaches, find a problem or topic you are passionate about or just search very deep within you. Having a purpose and a conviction will keep you going in spite of setbacks and challenges.
Focus and stop comparing. Comparison has a way of delaying and discouraging us. There will be a lot of people doing better and worse than you. It's just easier to do what you need to do without watching what others are doing.
Plan and Schedule properly: One of the tricks to finding time to get things done especially when you have a lot of things to do is to plan and schedule the important things or the things you want to get done.
Do the work: there’s no better strategy to getting things done than actually doing the work.
Share your journey: this gives some people a form of accountability, external validation, immediate feedback, and recognition for your work.
I hope these tips help you if there’s something on your mind/list/goals that you want to start.
I wish you the best in all you do.
